Artist description
John Stigall is without a doubt one of the true living legends of the spoken word art form and poetry readings of our time. His live readings are as dynamic as rock concerts and his CD's are redefining what a spoken word CD should be. John's poetic style uses a clever blend of blues, new age music and Hendrix style rock as a foundation and major influence. John credits jazz with being the most important factor in his live reading style, "Jazz taught me method and how to "read" my own works." If you've ever been to one of John's dynamic poetry readings then you have seen this method in action.John's poems are thought provoking & mystical, the reading style intense, the music a powerful blend hard guitar rock, blues, and synth soundtracks. |

Artist History
from 1983-2001 John Stigall was a Professor of Enlgish and literature at Chattanoga State Technical Community College. He has published 4 books of poetry, done hundreds of tv and radio appearances, and currently has recorded and released 2 CD's with the progressive rock recording artists Losfer Words here on the mp3.com site. However, John insists that he is just "... a poet who happens to be a teacher of Enlgish and literature." In 1993 John teamed up with the progressive instrumental group Losfer Words, to transform poems from his 1991 book, Broken Mirrors Reflect the World, into a spoken word CD that would eventually become his first release Into the Life of This World, which finally captured John's original style in a recording, the CD proving to be an instant success with college radio audiences across the country::: In 1999 Into The Life of This World was remixed with new music not available on the orignal recording. Also in 1998 John Recorded Another Conversation with the Bard available here on mp3.com . (Johns latest book of poetry Subjects For Other Conversations is available through Mammoth Press ) John recently signed a book publishing deal with Mammoth Press for his next two volumes of poetry. |
