Artist History This all started in the summer of -95, with the band "Cats & Dogs" playing for the season at Slussens Pensionat, a combined boarding house, restaurant, pub and summer paradise situated on the shore of Orust, a beautiful island on Sweden's west coast. The place is run by Robert Sohlberg, who is also well known in these parts of Sweden as a singer/songwriter since many years.As evenings became nights, it would always be hard keeping Robert off the stage, which was fortunate, since we liked having him on it… We soon found that the band and Robert agreed well with each other, no matter if the songs were the band's own, covers, or Robert's own songs.We returned the following winter, during the off-season, and rigged our recording gear in the dining room. We played, talked, recorded, ate fabulous meals, laughed and drank (Robert makes great Daiquiris…) for ten days, sometimes in the daytime, sometimes in the dead of night.This period resulted in about thirty takes of twelve songs, all written by Robert and arranged then and there by all of us.At the time, most of the songs were new to us; we learned and rehearsed the songs while arranging and recording them. Many of the songs were recorded as several completely different versions, others were single first takes.Tommy, as producer, then spent a week alone at the deserted boarding house, choosing which of these takes to go ahead with, and fooling around with the tracks. Thereafter, we recorded some overdubs, made a rough mixdown of the songs, and before we knew it, our stay had come to an end.Well at home, we recorded the final overdubs in different strange rooms & locations… we then moved the whole production into a traditional recording studio for the final mixdown of the songs.So, most of what you hear are "live" takes; sometimes completely live, sometimes with quite a lot of overdubs. Throughout this project, we've tried hard to set atmosphere and feeling above technique and perfectionism; some takes might contain a slip or two, but we kept them anyway if the take agreed with the song and had the right mood & attitude. Hope you enjoy it; we sure did!
