Artist History
Astronaut Wife fuses the harmonious vocal arrangements of Amy Turany, Janey Winterbauer and Angela Orluck to the pulsating electronic music of Christian Erickson and Tim Ritter. The band was loosely formed when Erickson asked each of the vocalists to sing on some material he was working on. At the time, each was fronting her/his own band with Erickson in Passage, Turany in February, Winterbauer in Nectar (later The Makeshift) and Orluck with Myriad. The original idea was for each singer to "guest" on a track, but the four quickly began developing multi-part vocal arrangements for the material and what began as a recording project soon developed into a "real band". Since that time, each of the members' other projects have disbanded, and Erickson took the opportunity to recruit his former Passage bandmate Tim Ritter as musical collaborator and live bassist. Original member Amy Turany recently left Astronaut Wife to form a new project and former Polara drummer Peter Anderson was added as live percussionist. |
