    Artist History
'the digital kill' formed around 1996 when Daniel Keltner, Anthony Cox, and Vincent McAley, decided to form a serious band that would be radically different from the expectations of other local bands around Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Intending originally to create a music that was both "artistic and experimental", it wasn't until they started playing live around the fall of 2001 that their somber, melancholy music became the emotionally intense wall of sound that 'the digital kill' is known for. Often using altered tunings, lo-fi, dirty samples, and attacking the guitars with everything from cello bows to plaster knives, songs will begin with a murmur of harmonics and whispered vocals, building until becoming an explosion of drums, screams, and power chords. While others try to find labels to describe exactly what it is they do, if there is any genre or movement 'the digital kill' is a part of, it hasnt happened yet. 'the digital kill' has played several venues in chicago such as the fireside bowl, the big horse lounge, the beat kitchen, and the prodigal sun bar. 'the digital kill' is still unsigned.

"If you haven't heard of 'The Digital Kill (hailing from Chicago), then you truly missing out on a lot of wonderful music. Why? Well, let us put it this way, rather than having overly produced songs/music and not worrying about their image 'The Digital Kill' have a different vibe, an unique sound that comes straight from the heart. When I listened to this album I was compelled by the aggressivness, edge and energy that was put into every song. The music its moves you and takes you body to a whole new level. You get emotional with each song, which has a different emotion. Not only that, but you'll be able to hear a different message in every song. Honestly, this album doesn't really sound like the typical album, but an album of someones personal feelings and emotions through a certain point or moment in their life. When Daniel, Anthony and Vince play it more like an orchestra of emotions coming from your CD player. I love 'The Digital Kill' because it just proves that their not afraid to express and take you on a journey of their lives. More importantly, the album is more like a representation of themselves put on a CD for you to hear. If you see them play live or heard them before, then you know what I'm talking about. With a song like "Sometimes" (a personal favorite), which is an emotional track, in which you'll be able to hear eerie vocals and an unique arrangment of instruments. Trust me when I say this, The Digital Kill kickass. Overall: The whole album was wonderful and beauifully put together. I truly believe that more bands should be like tihs, but then again nobody can be 'The Digital Kill.'" -Ashley, Freakz of Rock, www.freakzofrock.com.............................................................. "This demo has 4 tracks, and its nearly half an hour long. Its funny how a fact like that can immediately give you some idea of the style to expect when you put something like this on... Well, this is at least something like you might expect. Whisper-to-roar dynamics, little picking moments on the... is that a guitar or a... yeah, its a guitar. And then of course the three-minute builds. Its weird to think that something so post-everything is becoming more and more common recently. I have to say, though, that the only thing between a recording like this and an enormous following is a budget big enough to pull off the production you really need for a sound as epic and expansive as this is aiming at. Something as good and as promising as this makes me want to front the money myself to make this band succeed. If you like huge dynamics, panoramic crescendos, and really long music, The Digital Kill is not something you want to miss!" -Kent Walter, 1340mag, www.1340mag.com
