Artist History
Ray started out as a member of the recording band Stonebolt and enjoyed top 30 status in Billboard with their classic rock ballad "I Will Still Love You". Lots of tv appearances followed and a string of other singles including Adam Mitchell's "Queen of the Night". It was around '85 that Roper decided to branch out and started the Ray Roper Band. They toured the bars of Vancouver and outlying areas building up a loyal following but although much recording was done, no album was produced.
Having co-produced and co-engineered the Stonebolt albums gave Ray the necessary skills to go into recording whole hog and landed a teaching job at the Universal Institute of Recording Arts in Vancouver. It didn't take long for frustration to force him back into recording more songs for his own solo project and a lot of other artist's albums and demos. Roper's solo album came out in '95 on Long Island Records in Germany but the relationship was cut short when the company folded. Ray is now a freelance respected producer/engineer/songwriter in Vancouver, where he has logged many CD credits with rock and country artists from Canada, the US and Europe. He continues to strive for that next big hook, cool groove, and great sounding production. |
