Press Reviews
I don't listen to a whole hell of a lot of metal these days, but this local Iowa band from Cedar Falls definitely stole the show tonight. While they were setting up, I took a look at the dwarf drum set and thought, "oh shit, what are we in for?" haha. BUT, once they took stage, I forgot about the drums (size really doesn't matter!) I was totally amazed with this band's exhaustingly energetic stage presence, which is really hard to find these days. The guitarist and bassist jumped all over the stage and i was sure that either they would smack into each other or get their dreds tangled.
Their music was very raw and powerful, but they would surprise the listener with some melodic groves to open a song or as an interlude. Even some of the heavy riffs would contain some subtle melodies peeking through. The singing, which was rare, was well executed, then thrown aside with powerful screams that made you want to jump around as much as the band.
The live show was excellent, but I had a feeling that it wasn't their best. I heard a rumor that the drummer possibly had a broken leg, which would explain some timing difficulties during the set. I got a hold of one of their demos though, and as I had expected, the double bass was precise, the screams were just as painful and haunting, and the guitars ripped my ears apart. Gotta love it!
