Artist description Hello! My name is Chris Backe, and I am a Christian singer/songwriter out of Berea, Kentucky. I sing and play my own tunes on the piano for the most part, though I've written a couple that would probably sound better on the acoustic guitar... My style is very similiar to Micheal W. Artist History I was born in a Christian home, and raised in church my whole life. Although it feels like I've been a Christian practically since birth, I recommitted my life during a summer youth trip to the Brownsville revival in 1998. Around that same time God placed a calling to get involved in music in some way. I got my big start into singing during that same trip, when I signed up for a talent show during a summer trip with my youth group. Like everybody else I've always sung in the shower and whenever I was sure there was no one around to hear me, but this talent show was the first time I had ever really sung in front of a audience. I sung 'I believe I can fly' acapella, and pretty much surprised the entire youth group, who had never heard me sing before. Later on one of my friends remembered me singing and joked 'Hey, you've got to start writing your own songs, you can't just be copying everyone else!'. So I did, and Memories was the first song that came out. Since then I've gone on to write many more songs, and I'm still writing songs as God gives me ideas. I want God to use me however and whereever He wants, no matter whether that's a music business executive, an artist traveling a few churches in the area, or some other way I can't even think of right now. But no matter where He takes me in this life, I want everyone to remember that it's God working through me, not me taking credit for something I couldn't have done on my own.
