Artist History
The seeds of Audiowreck were planted back in late 95 / early 96 in London, Ontario Canada. When singer/guitarist Nathan Quinn teamed up with longtime friend Roy Silvieria, who was a well renowned producer and musician in the London scene at the time. The two of them spent the next year and a half laying the groundwork for this new band. Writing and recording with local musicians they started defining their sound. Bouncing their musical influences off of one another they began to cast the mold of their unique brand of pop music.
But, it wasn’t until late 97 that everything became cemented for the band.
In the spring of that year, Audiowreck began the task of looking for a new guitarist. When they happened to stumble upon an ad for a Toronto musician by the name of Steve Kostry, they had little idea of how this person was about to affect the sounds and stylings of Audiowreck.
Steve had been playing around the Toronto scene for a number of years before join up with the band. Bringing into this group his own influences and sound has helped the band forge their strong writing partnership and has enabled them to create a blend of music that stands alone in a sea of mucky-muck.
Over the last couple of years Nathan and Roy have relocated to Toronto and Audiowreck have been tooling and fine tuning their songs and style. The most recent project the boys have undertaken, has been the construction of their own studio. Aptly christened Air.Food.Water.Music after what the band feel are the four basic life forces of Audiowreck. They have also joined up with another very talented musician/writer, Matt Kentner. Matt has taken on Bass duties in the band and has helped them to bring everything they are working towards, one step further. Now armed with a catalogue of songs they are playing live and countinuing to work on new material.
Some of the vast musical influences the guys draw upon include: The Smiths, New Order, The Pixies, U2, Radiohead, Catherine Wheel, Chemical Bros.,
Coldplay, The Charlatans, Orbital, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, Garbage and BT. If you like any of these artists, you should check out Audiowreck. You won’t be disappointed.
