Artist History
For the past ten years this unique group has been forging a brand of hard and steady blues that truly advances the art form. They have toured with the likes of Buddy Guy and Colin James as well as opened for B.B.King, James Cotton, John Mayall and Koko Taylor. In 1994 they won the Jazz Report Blues Group of the Year Award. 1995 saw their second album When the Sun Goes Down nominated for the Juno Best Blue/Gospel recording. By no means blues purists, the band has managed to blend their many musical influences into a groove-driven style that can really rock the house. The Sidemen are also well known for their acoustic performance, which features “unplugged versions” of their original material among an astute selection of pre–war country blues masterpieces including “Sleepy John Estes,” “King Solomon Hill,” and “the Mississippi Sheiks.” In June 2001 the band released their fourth album Rattlebag with acclaimed producer/musician Colin Linden. The Sidemen – a truly unique voice in contemporary blues. Be sure not to miss this impressive group. |

Press Reviews
"'Rattlebag'... shows a fusion of fire and finesse." - NXNE, 2001 (www.nxne.com) "The resultant musical landscape... is an atmospheric evocation of alienation and disorientation. Existential blues, if you will. Music for driving on a dark night on the road to nowhere... Rattlebag is nothing short of a masterpiece; ...my very highest recommendation!" – John Taylor ( 2001 by John Taylor, and Blues On Stage, all rights reserved.) www.mnblues.com
"There is no denying that Reddick has the blues deep in the marrow of his bones." - David Grant (The Post & Courier) "If you're looking for that hard edge, look no further than Rattlebag... The whole CD is a rich ethnic blues narrative [and] the Sidemen supply tremendous texture and altruistic flavor to this uncommon blues blend." – Al Handa (Ed. - Delta Snake Daily Blues) |
