Artist description The Memphis Radio Kings are three experienced Seattle-based musicians who are determined to create unusual, emotional and memorable songs. The band focuses on superior writing and musicianship and packages it with high-energy live performances. MRK scavenge wildly diverse musical styles, from cow-punk to rock, digging deep into the roots of American pop to bring a fresh edge to their message. Their unique approach and emphatic delivery embrace the concept that real music is a medium of communication and true pop does not have to be predictable. Their unique, roots-based sound has been compared to a wide range of artists including the Replacements, the Old 97s, and 80s roots-rock pioneers the Del Fuegos. While the guys are flattered by these comparisons, their ultimate goal is to create their own sound.

Artist History Memphis Radio Kings rose from the ashes of an established Seattle rock band that had run its course. Reborn as MRK, their goal was (and is) to focus on writing great songs combining deeply emotional themes, dark melodies, black humor, solid rhythm, and deep hooks. Charlie Beck, singer and acoustic guitar rhythm wizard, fronts the band and delivers powerful, emotionally raw performances both live and in the studio. Guitarist Tim Jones simply leaves audiences stunned every time he plays. His use of the guitar as an instrument of both texture and melody virtually ensures questions about his set-up and technique after every show. Tony Leamer, relentless drummer and back-up vocalist, is constantly pushing the band to explore new musical and rhythmic territory.
