Artist description
The root of FURNACE ST.’s sonic appeal is its dedication to unconventional instrumentations and unique tonal spectrums. Warm synths and crunchy, arpeggiated guitars generally lay down the melodic backbone. The songs are then structured with rhythmically c omplex but ultimately danceable electronics, often comprised of cheap drumbox samples and feedback loops warped beyond recognition. Intricate bass work is sprinkled through-out the mix, pulling double duty as both anchor and countermelody. Over this dens e, murky bed of sound, Boose delivers his lyrics with an emotional intensity that disguises their pessimism and inspires self-discovery. In essense, FURNACE ST.’s sound is a marriage of 80’s industrial/synthpop and 90’s indie guitar rock. Upon closer ins pe ction, listeners will notice the subtle nuances of new wave, electro, prog rock, and shoegazer... not to mention unabashed balls-out riff-rock. All of these factors contribute to a style that affords FURNACE ST. a broad palette of unlimited flexibilit y, which they’ve simply dubbed “synthrock.” |

Press Reviews
"What is most refreshing about the group is that they do something that should have been thought of a long time ago, by making music that has duel roots in good electronica and distorted real deal rock. Buy this record, find a girlfriend who wears too muc h black, and listen to it while you drive around at night and you'll probably feel a lot cooler than you are right now." - Nate Cavalieri, Buddyheadn |
