Artist description
corrida, are four piece, unique sounding rock/metal band with screaming. Their music combines crushingly heavy guitar riffs, brutal screaming vocals peppered with moments of calm and breaky, energetic drumming over heavy bass lines. Their down-tuned, catchy, metallic songs have earned them much praise even though they have yet to unleash their full potential. They formed properly after Christmas 2000 and are in the process of establishing themselves. With influences across the rock and metal spectrum, the band generate a unique powerful sound that is sure to secure them a future. |

Press Reviews
GIG REVIEW: "...they seemed transformed, wicked stage presence, crushing vocals, screaming loud powerful guitar and just an excellent overall sound... I enjoyed "Let Me In" and a new really heavy song "Number5", in the songwriting department they really are way ahead of most other bands... They didn't seem very well known, but I'm sure that will change soon. Can't wait to see them again." - Peter Haywood. ALBUM REVIEW: "The album opens with chunky metal tune Number5, which wouldn't be out of place on a Visible Noise sampler CD, with its chugging riffs and breaky, energetic drumming." .Alt Magazine. ALBUM REVIEW: "The CD opens straight into a powerful, loud, energetic song called "Number5". This is probably my favourite song and it sounds brilliant ... The vocals bounce around between some brilliant screaming and softer melody, and the guitars sound fantastic especially when after the simple solo they crash into some well placed feedback before jumping into a semi-distorted riff. I particularly like the drumming here too ... After the 2.58 song is over, I normally have to listen to it again.
The next song is called "Dischord" and in contrast to the opener, the vocals have much less screaming throughout. It starts with a wonderful bass line containing bass harmonics (something I've never heard in a metal song) and then the guitar and drums come in. This is a very rhythmic song that has catchy vocals and simple but effective riffs... I do think this is a really good song...
Final track "Forgotten" ... has that rhythmic, head-bopping feel to it as the riffs chug along. I can see some Deftones influence in this sound, but it doesn't really sound like the Deftones. I really like the structure of this song and the diversity in the riffs that make it up.
... they have an excellent vocalist, who's screaming voice is really something to be envied ... They have the talent in the riffs department, with their guitarist coming up with some great stuff." By Peter Haywood |
