Artist History
We're entering our third year as a band. Originally formed as "The Apollo 13" in August 2000. By March 2001, the band had released "Crash and Burn", it's appropriately titled debut EP. Back then the band was Bryan Cole, Andrew Davis, Andrew Lutynski, and Neil Hodge occasionally when we recorded with drums. In August 2001, the band returned to the studio, this time with Greg Frechette on bass, Rob Pilkington doing vocals, and Big Red of Nicco on drums. They recorded ‘Instruments of Torture', their second EP, and last release under the name 'Apollo 13'. They band changed its name to Ataraxis later that month. Just before their first gig in November 2001, Brian Welesko joined the band as the permanent drummer. They went on to play a battle of the bands in West Warwick, walking away with second place, and another Jonah Gig in February. About a week after the Jonah Gig, tensions between the band and Bryan Cole increased and he left the band (on good terms). The lineup finalized, the band returned to Jonah in March, and then went on a hiatus while they produced their third EP release, "Pop Injury". "Pop Injury" was released on August 12, 2002 and the band celebrated its release three days later by playing an outdoor concert at the Jonah. The band is currently working on their debut LP release "Herd Behavior" and is looking forward to some more shows in the Fall 2002 / Winter 2003 season. |
