Artist History
The story of Walk The Line is the story of four individuals who, once separated by miles of Los Angeles county, were brought together by a common goal - the creation of furious, explosive, yet melodic hardcore punk rock. It began in 2000 with two friends, Bassist Cody Hung and guitarist Joe Nigro, jamming for fun as a diversion from the monotony of college life. Fueled by songs that Joe had written over two years, they soon decided to add a vocalist and drummer to complete the lineup. Jed Ross, formerly o f the band Blacklist had recently moved from Santa Cruz to Los Angeles, and possessed the combination of melody, anger, and stage presence that they needed in a vocalist. After playing together for several months without a drummer, it seemed that the thre e might never find a suitable fourth component, until Tiger Vaiz answered their ad in The Recycler. Citing extensive experience, even sitting in with bands such as NOFX, Good Riddance, and Suicidal Tendencies, Tiger was the foundation for the band they we re looking for, and within two months the band began playing shows.
Preferring to write about emotions and experiences rather than social and political ones, Walk the Line's lyrics are personal and poignant. The music ranges from calm and melodic to fast and furious, citing influences from old school, melodic, and hardcore punk, Walk the Line borrows from these styles while still defining their own sound. What is next? It is a little early to tell, but one thing is guaranteed: the band will continue to march on, driven by their fury, determination, and love for music.
