Artist History
Folk music, the type found on Dylan's "John
Wesley Harding" and "Blood on the Tracks"
was my first musical love. I learned to play
listening and studying the simple beauty and
mystery found on those recordings. As I earned my
degree in English, I began to find my own lyrical
voice. Taking the lessons of my professors to heart
more on my songwriting than on the poetry and short
stories they were recieving.
Shortly after college, I found out there was
a lot more going on musically than just in the
alt-country scene where I had pigeonholed myself for
so long. Not disregarding the folk background, I
still only play guitar and harmonica, and with new musical
ideas to play off of and a strong sense of songwriting,
the brooding acoustic music I now play, I can say is
definitely in my own strange voice.
