    Artist description
The urgency of the moment when light is swallowed by emerging night is the feeling driving Losing Daylight. This alternative rock/pop band’s music is filled with a passion derived from the realization that the end is always near. “Losing Daylight is time running out,” says co-founding member and frontman Mervin Lei. But even as time runs out, the Los Angeles-based band is concerned with spreading a message of faith, hope, and love: that the end can be transcended, overcome. In the end, what’s behind Losing Daylight is more than just music. It’s about living life, friendship, love, and a faith in something greater than us all. It’s a belief that the sun will rise again and begin a new day more beautiful than any that came before. Perhaps Losing Daylight’s song “I Still Believe” says it best: “I still believe I couldn’t live without the hope of another day.”

    Artist History
After months of hard work, Losing Daylight has just released their limited promotional release CD. Recorded and produced at Mint Sound Audio, this CD was the culmination of two years of constant collaboration between Mervin, rhythm guitarist/songwriter Kelvin Li, and producer/guitarist Theo Chou. To promote awareness of the band and the CD, Losing Daylight has been touring extensively over the past 9 months. Founded in 1998 in an apartment at UC San Diego, Losing Daylight was born when friends Mervin and Kelvin got together one night and wrote their first song, a song that eventually became “Looking to that Day.” One of the pivotal moments in the band’s history came in the summer of 1999 when Theo came on board and Mervin left his career as a youth counselor and committed himself full time to the band and to music school. Since that summer things have been moving at breakneck speed for the band. In December of 1999 Losing Daylight played their biggest concert to date at Youthlink 2000, where thousands of youths gathered to celebrate the New Year. They have played with recording artists: Third Day, Raze, Annointed, Plankeye, LA Symphony, Houseblend, Dogwood, Havalina Rail co., and Big Dog Small Fence.
    Group Members
Losing Daylight is comprised of three core members: Mervin, Kelvin, and lead guitarist Theo Chou. All three have extensive backgrounds in music. Mervin is a recent graduate of the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) where he studied vocal theory. Kelvin first picked up the guitar at age 12 at the urging of his youth group leader, and has been playing in different churches and bands ever since. Theo graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering. In addition to Mervin, Kelvin, and Theo, Losing Daylight also currently features the supporting talents of Samuel Beumier on bass and Daniel Hathaway on the drums. Both are fellow graduates with Mervin of LAMA
