Artist History
History:
After graduating from University, Marian and Donny decided to start their first band.
Two months later, they were chosen as one of nine finalists in C-Fox's tenth annual
"DemoListen Derby". They were somewhat shocked by their instant success. In an interview
with a local paper Marian revealed: "We weren't at a stage where we thought we'd be taken
seriously. We thought we had a lot more work ahead of us." Put simply, the band was being
recognised forits talent. As The Province's music reviewer Tom Harrison put it: "they have
a really great knack with a song and a hook that seems totally natural and is really, really
quite appealing." As contest finalists, Donnie and Marian received studio time in which to
record a ten-song demo CD. They also earned themselves a fifteen minute television spot on
Shaw Cable's nationally broadcast "DemoVision: Project Discovery".

Kick In The Eye - Rock And Roll Needs A... (CDR)
[Genres: country, country rock]
This is a collection of enjoyable country rock tunes from Vancouver, Canada's Kick In The Eye.
Contained within are two cover songs and three original pieces. "Hurricane," one of Kick In The
Eye's own songs, is a delightful ditty that is sure to get stuck in your head. It is definitely
influenced by some of The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds"-era work. "Thirty Miles" is another happy,
bouncy number that will be sure to leave you humming its melody for hours on end. All of these
songs use a similar formula, taking a happy, sugar-coated approach to their music that will
definitely slap a smile on your face. While they're short on content in some places, they make
it up with pure fun. - March 2002
