Artist description
I try to use poetry and music to form a hybrid of sound and story that has never been heard before. Though obscure, I hope my experiences and songs are ones that most everybody can relate to. I try to use more than the standard simple progressions and chords, almost being scientific about what goes where in my songs. |

I try not to sound like anybody but if I had to narrow it down, maybe it would be Lenny Kravitz with an acoustic flavor. |

Artist History
Kevin Tinkle was born in Northern California in the late 70's where he was influenced early by the sounds of everything from KISS to Neil Diamond. Growing up in a musical household, it was not long before Kevin took up an instrument of his own,(outgrowing the Muppet drumset that his parents got for him.) While in high school he mastered the trumpet and began to develop some jazz chops and play gigs with local jazz musicians. After high school he went to community college for 2 years, playng trumpet in the top ensemble while having aspiratons to be a high school band director. After 2 yrs of community college, Kevin transferred to San Diego State University to continue his aspirations of being a music teacher. He would finish school with a degree in Music Education but realize that there are a few things he would like to do with music before he taught. This led him to learn the guitar and learn to write songs. He is currently seen at open mics all over San Diego as well in his Motown/funk group, The Notchbacks |
