Artist description An ethno-gothic electronic band with elements of trip-hop. Now the band plays music of different genres, ranging from all kinds of folk music (especially Arabian) to gothic and trip-hop, evoking blurred associations with DEAD CAN DANCE, PORTISHEAD, MOUSE ON MARS… The compositional base of the music is the phonogram of electronic drums and other sounds, "laid over" by live gutars, bongoes, bass, keyboards and deep meditative female vocals.

Artist History Initially the band consisted of one person and its name was FYODOR SCUM. Renamed by Nikolai Sudnik into THEODOR BASTARD, it started a life of its own in 1999. Everything began in the distant year of 1996, when Fyodor revealed new abilities of computer technologies. Deep persistent ambient, industrial noises and voices of characters from beyond the mirrors - that was the initial sound of the band. Technologies changed along with the approach: out of standard sound extraction a'la ZOVIET FRANCE, SLEEP CHAMBER, LUSTMORD, having undergone analog experiments of PANASONIC and mockery of F.M. EINHEIT, it transformed into something incongestible which is quite hard to define. THEODOR BASTARD is not experimental music in its common sense. Pop-music distorted in the prism of sonic perversions. Hissing sound generators, flowing into DJ's deconstruction of dance music. "I was seduced by Fyodor, and you?" THEODOR BASTARD frequently plays in such Petersburg clubs as Moloko, Fish Fabrique, Polygon, Pyatnitsa, G.E.S.-21 and Front. The band played at several festivals - SKIF-5 (Sergey Kuryokhin Festival) and Svobodny Polyot - 4, where they supported DEADUSHKI.
