Artist History
e group was formed in 1996 with a clear aim of contributing to the cause of
the world revolution. Fiercely, like R.A.T.M., but in a different industrial
style they tried to inspire sleeping masses for subversive actions. Thundering
drums and viscous, even pompous, keyboards, resembled LAIBACH, and sometimes
their music caused steady associations with GODFLESH.
Due to the absence of required equipment and sufficiently strong ties with
records companies the first cheap studio record was made only in February 1997.
This was the first attempt of breakthrough into then-frequent St. Petersburg
rock festivals. It appeared to be a failure. Five songs of slashing militarized
industrial, decorated with radical political slogans and demands, scared fat
promoters. The group didn't perform at any of those events.
The name of DETI SOLNCA (Children of the Sun), admitted to be banal by the
members of the band, wasn't chosen casually. Those trying to perceive Nazi
symbols behind this may piss off. And it has no relation to hippies whatsoever.
They possess their own ideology.
Balancing on the brink of falling apart for the second year, they lead an active
concert activity. Some of recent concerts are: "Singing Nevsky Festival - 6, 8",
Sergey Kuryokhin International Festival - 4, "Singing Steps" Festival in Vyborg
and lots of other concerts on St. Petersburg clubs.
There are two trends in the band's creative work - equal presence of both male
and female vocals which adds a special "totalitarity" to the sound of the band,
and the work with ritual rhythms (which is well noticeable at recent concerts).
In summer of 2000, in active cooperation with Andrey Tropilo, DETI finally
recorded their first full-scale album. It was called "Propaganda". It is due to
be released in October-November 2001.
