Artist description
Composer/Percussionist/Performer/Producer etc....
A one man multi media band! Cute, and artsy to boot!
I perform most of my compositions in a live solo
"looping" show.This incorporates African xylophone
and percussion,a melodica, synths, drum kit,& samples.
I play, record & mix on the fly-
and have now (in collaboration with filmmaker
Craig Baldwin) theatrically incorporated
film (16mm,8mm, Slide projection), Live Video,
Shadow puppetry, and narrative structure.
I work alot withartists in theater, dance
and experimental film & media. In recent past
made my living as a percussionist
but have shifted to composing and artistic
collaboration.
Still do some fun drumming i.e. playing as an
officaial drummer for the Minnesota Timberwolves
(NBA Basketball team) and drumming for Haitian
danceclasses (and occasional Haitian ceremonies
when in NYC)

Press Reviews
"...merging implacable strands of self created
sounds-percussive,tonal,digital,vocal-whose roots
span generations and cultures. The mix of primitive
voice and cutting edge delivery makes Barnell perhaps
theTwin Cities most unique, understated solo artist."
