    Artist History
Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Peter Thomas is a drummer who has continued to develop a style that incorporates a variety of musical genres yet maintains a unique voice. Picking up the sticks at the age of 12, Peter began to actively pursue music throughout his formative years before playing out professionally throughout the Bay Area scene. It was while playing in a wide variety of groups that styles such as rock, jazz, funk and blues were soon cemented into the fiber of his playing. In moving to Los Angeles to earn a degree in ethnomusicology at UCLA, Peter played alongside some of LA's finest jazz figures such as Oscar Brashear, George Bohanon, Roberto Miranda and legendary guitarist Kenny Burrell. It was also at this time that Peter became a founding member of Earshot, an explosive power rock trio. Upon graduation, Peter further lent his talents to a variety of projects. In addition to backing up such young jazz talents as Dave Borgo and David Ake (both Positone Records Recording Artists), Peter was also a member of both pop vocalist Alana Gentry's band as well as the popular West LA jazz/funk group the Septones. Furthermore, the spring and summer of 2000 saw Peter join funk rockers Calicosoul on two separate European tours. Branching out beyond freelance musician work, Peter has continued to move into the world of recording engineering. While at Primal Scream, a Santa Monica based commercial music and sound design facility, Peter lent his digital audio talents to many projects while working alongside some of LA's most respected composers and sound designers such as Claude Letessier ("Thin Red Line", "Peacemaker"). In the summer of 2001, Peter was again playing in Europe this time backing up Broadway stars such as John Davidson and Pamela Blake. Upon his return to the US, Peter relocated to the Bay Area. After teaching Commercial Music Recording at Foothill College and freelancing around the area, Peter joined Studio Hibiki as Resident Engineer. Some of his own projects include the jazz quartet the Century Players and an electronic duo, The S Project.
