    Artist description
To say that Australia's ALCHEMIST are in a class of their own would be an understatement indeed. A unique metal hybrid unlike anything that you’ve ever heard, ALCHEMIST is a strange beast to quantify. Instinctively aware of the importance of stylistic individuality, ALCHEMIST's "Organasm" is the bands definitive statement, stronger in all areas than any of the band's previous albums. Continuously building on layers of cyclical sounds, ALCHEMIST have provided heavy music adventurer with the grail they have long been searching for. A seriously profound listen, "Organasm" displays a tight maelstrom of musicianship and a more focused yet adventurous ALCHEMIST sound, incorporating amazing textures, ever-changing tempos and patterns, middle Eastern percussive rhythms, washes of keyboards and a unique musical identity that will leave you amazed. ALCHEMIST is an extremely innovative metal band who are unafraid to experiment outside the restraints and boundaries usually associated with the metal genre.

    Artist History
In 1995, this band blew me away with their 'Promo '94' cassette and the excellent Lunasphere that followed it. I figured that just about any heavy music adventurer would die for this band. Anyone whose tastes ran from ugly grind to world music to scathing black metal to Neurosis to Rainbow to Fear factory to Pink Floyd. Organasm is best listened to as one long song, as things churn and churn, rising higher, falling lower, gelling, issipating, cracking skulls here and providing dreamlike, transcendental moments there. Wherever it goes, Organasm is a seriously profound listen." - Metal Maniacs To say that Australia's ALCHEMIST are in a class of their own would be an understatement indeed. A unique metal hybrid unlike anything that you've ever heard, ALCHEMIST is a strange beast to quantify. Instinctively aware of the importance of stylistic individuality, and disillusioned with the stagnant metal scene of the late eighties, Alchemist was formed with the purpose of creating original, emotive, hard driving music that would not only provide metal listeners with a fresh perspective, but attract music lovers usually not interested in the extremities of the metal genre. In 1993, Alchemist attracted the interest of Austrian metal label Lethal Records. Jar of Kingdom was Alchemist's first CD release -a bizarre aural collage of early death thrash and spasticated psychedelia. Jar of Kingdom showcased a band striving for their own musical identity. Alchemist continued to progress their brand of heaviness through two more studio efforts, Lunasphere and Spiritech respectively. These recordings saw alchemist fine tune their craft via improved production and a continued commitment to rupture the restraints of the genre. The band's innovation, combined with constant touring and a strong work ethic, helped to catapult Alchemist to the forefront of the Australian metal scene - a position they maintain to this day. Unfortunately Lunasphere and Spiritech were largely unavailable outside Australia - the band's international distribution drought had to be broken. During late1999 / early 2000, Alchemist finalized a distribution deal with Dutch label Displeased Records for the European release of their latest opus Organasm. Alchemist view Organasm as a rebirth in both innovation and songwriting and are confident their future recordings will be nothing short of a masterpiece of Alchemical mechanics. Relapse Records, long interested in ALCHEMIST's brilliant metal hybrid, stepped in and licensed Organasm to for an October 2001 release. Finally fans outside Australia will have access to AlchemisT's magic, and the band has the international distribution and promotion they have sorely needed. ALCHEMIST's Organasm is the band's definitive statement, stronger in all areas than any of their previous albums. Continuously building on layers of cyclical sounds, ALCHEMIST have provided heavy music adventurer with the grail they have long been searching for. A seriously profound listen, Organasm displays a tight maelstrom of musicianship and a more focused yet adventurous ALCHEMIST sound, incorporating amazing textures, ever-changing tempos and patterns, middle Eastern percussive rhythms, washes of keyboards and a unique musical identity that will leave you amazed. With the stability of a ten year line up and issues finally settled on the international front, the future is very bright. Alchemist shall not disappoint!
