Artist description Michael West is a child of the Rocky Mountains, born and raised in a sleepy little country suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah, that according to Michael, "was a great place to grow up, It's a town where there are more big trucks, Wranglers, cowboy hats and belt buckles than you have ever seen," adds West. "It's a family town, and it's part of the reason I developed my love for country music at such an young age." Michael has sung professionally since he was 6, and wrote his first song at age 15. He always seemed to have a gift for putting the right words together with heart. Over the years Michael has won numerous awards for theater productions and vocal competitions. Songwriting is his passion but singing is his life. Combining these two talents, Michael delivers songs in a way that is both moving and memorable. He sings with a distinctive soulful, powerful quality, knowing instinctively when to apply the suitable amount of finesse. “Our music has a soulful groove, kind of like Aretha Franklin and Merle Haggard on a date," he says with a growl. "It's country with soul." Michael may be from a small town in Utah, and he's not about to forsake that, but he genuinely wants to do his part to expand the boundaries of country music by bringing new fans to the format. In 2000 he was dually awarded "Entertainer of the Year" and "Best Vocal Duo" for Keith & West by the Florida Country Music Association. Now making his home in Nashville, he is ready to introduce himself to the local scene as a talented singer/songwriter
