Artist History BOONDOGGLE is a band from the south of the Netherlands. They’re influenced by many different international bands like Radiohead, Live, Smashing Pumpkins and U2. Although, BOONDOGGLE cannot be compared to them, for they have their own sound. In short, BOONDOGGLE makes moodswing-rock. They announced their first 5 songs on a demo-CD Blue Belly Wood, which was an enhanced rehearsal recording. All songs were written by guitarist Henri Hendrix, who rocked the Limburg province at the late 80’s and early 90’s with bands like MENACY and SPEEDICA. At that stage he also gets to know Roger Gransier, other guitarist and Hans Reinders, singer of BOONDOGGLE. Hans already sang in SPEEDICA in 1987; one of their first gigs happened to be with MENACY. From ’91 till ’93, Henri also played in SPEEDICA and wrote several songs, but left the band shortly before their CD recording, which was released under the band name FORM. Hans stayed with FORM till ’95, but kept writing lyrics after that, and together with Henri, the idea was born to raise a band. After a short while, Roger (solo-guitarist of MENACY) joined the band, and put a second dimension to the BOONDOGGLE guitar sound, which is often referred to as a nearly unique ‘two-layer’ guitar sound. From another project of Hans, the drummer Leon Verkoulen joined the band. Leon had several years of experience with his band DEJA VU, and as a multi-genre drummer, he was perfect for BOONDOGGLE. As a bass player Joop Nieskens was introduced to BOONDOGGLE. Joop was known in the punk pop scene with bands like KACHUK WHOP and MY SISTER SUSAN, bands with which he gained a lot of success. Nowadays BOONDOGGLE has played at several clubs and festivals with all kind of audiences and is ready to be introduced to the rest of the world.
