Artist description The songwriting team of John Callaghan and Bakersfield, rock 'n' roll begins with the song and ends with some whiskey. Bakersfield, the stage is the key. Bakersfield, you can hear the ghost of heroes and echoes of inspiration. You'll see them wearing Johnny Cash t-shirts, supporting Willie Nelson for President, and preaching the praises of Gram Parsons, but make no mistake, it's about the rock and roll. From the barnburning stomp of "Waitin' on a Ride" to the two-in-the-morning loneliness of "Tired and Wasted", these songs stay with you. Soaring harmonies and a tighter-than-your-pants-after-Thanksgiving-dinner rhythm section, Longtime friends and collaborators Adam Woods and John Callaghan have been working together in one band or another for years. While they had fun and earned their chops, they never found a rhythm section that clicked until they recruited Andrew McVeigh (Wally Mog) and Derek Raby (Subtractor) Bakersfield is performing live regularly and plans are in the works for an 03 release. And failing all else, the band is committed to carrying on the fine Canadian tradition of playing solid, beer-soaked rock and roll.
