Artist History Blair Gauntt's lead vocals are equally powerful and pretty - classically trained in singing and acting, his performances elicit a maximum emotional response from audiences. theTurnups shows are an ideal vehicle for his joy and angst simultaneously. Gart h Swan's guitar style is sweet, direct and to the point - his powerful hooks are addictive, original, and tasteful as a flourless chocolate cake. A powerhouse of driving rhythm and resonance is provided by the fretless bass of Alex Sosa. Also a guitarist and songwriter, Alex comes through with an original style unrivaled. Angela Belanger's lead guitar is a perfect fit for theTurnUps original pop style - her jazz and blues influences are influential but she manages to produce an original style that is ve ry effective and memorable. Dominic Vaglica’s drums and percussion are intense, aggressive and non-compromising, and emerges from a base of sensitivity. Hard rock beats with jazz and world music influences is what Dom adds to theTurnUps. Partner songwr iters Blair Gauntt and Garth Swan (Rooster and the Redtops, The Space Heaters) have been collaborating on words and music for the past decade. Leading the garage/psych group The Sindells and took Chicago's Wicker Park and Bucktown by storm a few years ago. Deciding to create more original, and more contemporary alternative music, they formed theTurnUps with bass player and Cloudland studio recording engineer/producer Alex Sosa (Food Chain, Abalone Penguin).
