Artist History OK, first off, why FERTILITY? Well, here's the short story. Matias went to Door County Wisconsin one summer, and he visited this Egyptian artifects store of some sort. The man who ran the store sold him a ring shaped in the form of an Eqyptian unk. He wasn't sure what the unk meant, so on his way out he asks the man what the unk symbolized. The old man stared and responded...."It means...fertility." So, when Matias came back home, him and his brother Julian were trying to think of a name for their band that they were about to create, and Fertility just stuck. Fuck yeah. The band started off with just Matias and Julian.....plus four other members who obviously have not remained with them. One summer Fertily was playing at a block party and Gerorge Hofmann came to watch them just by chance....well....he liked them for some reason and started jammin with them ever since. He eventually picked up the bass and gave Fertiliy the fuller sound that they needed. About 1 year later, the band decided that they needed another guitarist to make their sound tighter and fuller. This is what Matias had to say..."We had begun to lose our motivation to write new songs....actually we only had 2 songs to begin with, and we were not making any progress at all, so I put up flyers everywere looking for a second guitarist. God Damn, we tried out so many horrible guitarr players it wasn't even funny. It was like we were hit with a strand of bad luck. But then I was talking my boy Brandon Julian, and he said that his cousin Chris was jamin around lookin to be in a soft/hard rock band. Well, it took us a while to get together, but when we did, shit....he fuckin clicked. Chris has been ours ever since, and I consider him the heart of our band. And we love him." They played together for about 8 months, until they decided they needed Matias up front, so they were now on their quest for a new full time drummer. "I was walkin through the halls of DGS one day, and some kid started talking to me about his drums and how he had broken his symbal the other day or some shit. I had never seen this kid before, and he just started talking to me for no reasion. Anyway, the point was I thought the kid was on crack. Well, turns out his name was Joe Ossey, and he was supposidly a great drummer. I talked to the kid a few days later about jammin together and gave him a demo. The rest of the band was so excited that we were all together nervous at the same time. I mean, what if he sucked. Well, he tryed out, and he knew all the songs perfect. I remember almost shitting my pants when we started playing together, and he knew all the songs already. After that, I was like.....damn bro...your in. We owe a lot to Joey. We love him to." The band was completed, and now it was up to all of them to do have the fun they've been dreaming of. They're gonna play their music and record it and perform it, wheather you like it or not. Hopefully you'll join them. That's FERTILITY.
