Artist History As a young boy, David Newbould took an early interest in music, performance, and writing. Growing up, he felt he had a lot of things he wanted to say but not the identity through which they could be channelled. Somehow, somewhere, he was introduced to music at a very young age, and soon he found himself locked into its world of limitless mysteries and intrigue. It became a focal point through which all his internal development and growth would flow. First, at age seven, it was the piano. By the time he first picked up a guitar, at 15, he had learned piano, spent 5 years in a church choir, and taught himself the drums. In each of these endeavours David pushed himself to be the best, and at 16 he put his first group together. He was mostly just the guitar player, and the band had about 4 original songs. But while being intensly passionate about his guitar playing, David noticed how instinctively an audience coulde relate to a vocalist, and this unconscious connection made an impact on him. Music itself was a language that all could understand but not all could speak. He could speak to an audience with his guitar, and they in turn could listen, but through words and singing, an audience could relate even more with what he said, and the boundaries of communication would open up to a new level. At this point David felt it was time to leave his hometown. No longer would he part of the backdrop of an act out of which he felt no more life could be squeezed. There was only one viable option - to go where anything and everything seemed a possibility. He moved to New York, joined a band called the Mercenaries, left, went to California, left, and went back to New York. Upon re-arriving, he set out to realize the vision he had started to develop. He played his songs in small clubs and soon accumulated a small and loyal following. In this time, he developed a great rapport with audiences as a solo performer, and a truly distinct identity. The vulnerabilities he exposed on his own, the ability to conquer them nightly, became part of what he did. David is now living and performing in Austin, Texas. He is a truly unique artist with a passion for touching people through his music. His many followers, aquired from both personal appearances and from hearing his demos online, are able to attest to this impact. Soon, many more will be joining the growing base of followers of this special artist.

Press Reviews Being rather perplexed as to what to say to David, I would want him to know that his songs have moved me, and I would be most interested to hear his vast catalogue. I’d like to meet him and talk to him and find out what he’s like as a human, and take it to the next step for the time being. I think on certain songs his vocals are a little bit more stimulating in their clarity and passion, others are a little more affected, and that makes it a little bit more difficult to understand him. But basically, I’m very intrigued by his vocals, very intrigued by his melodies.
