Artist History
Brenda's musical career began in grade school with the clarinet and later she won a scholarship to study music at Edinboro University in northwestern Pennsylvania. She studied clarinet under David Sublette and soon found herself involved with a multitude of other instruments including bari sax, bass clarinet, flute and piano. Realizing that the academic world was not for her, she began learning the saxophone, starting out first on alto, then tenor and finally soprano. This lead to playing in several local and regional rock bands around the Pennsylvania area.
In 1987 she moved to Nashville (after finding out that there was more than just country music there) and began to get involved with musical composition via computer. She has written many electronic pieces of her own as well as collaborating on the Poleshift project contributing clarinet, flute, sax and piano. Currently she is writing and recording with the eclectic, all-acoustic Tree House featuring John Trevethan and Tim Buchanann. |
