Artist description
Raslo Layton - the Rock Poet - is a poet and songwriter residing in Hong Kong, who has been making regular
forays to the west coast of America in search of adventure.
He is first and foremost a wordsmith. His work condenses the complexities of life to their
essence, then he wraps them with his cynicism and northern humour and fires them at
the world. He is unique as an artist - he is not a singer nor a poet nor a performer. Yet
he is all these things, as he turns music-lovers on to poetry and poetry-lovers on

Artist History
Raslo trades on his experience. All his life he has travelled, and he has experienced life
in its richness and its poorness. From the desperate Smokey Mountain slums of Manila
to the sun-glassed opulence of Beverley Hills, he looks for the poignancy or the
foolishness of every situation
He tries, with hiswork, to cut through the woolly frivolity of our times. He spurns the mindless excesses of the young executives and legitimises the simple
life. His work is aimed at normal people; poetry, whether spoken or sung, should be
an every day currency that puts value back into the very act of living |
