Artist History
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the child of Iowan émigrés, Matthew W. Thompson has made an existence blending down-home midwestern sensibilities and uptempo LA lifestyle. A product of diverse roots (father an actor turned television writer/producer and mother a textile artist turned computer programmer), Matthew has explored many avenues during his 25 years on the planet. With experience ranging from education to the performing arts and study in the fields of Theology, Recording Arts, and History, he has never been one to settle into routine. The one constant throughout his life’s variations has been music. His melodic tastes being as eclectic as his background, his own music is a skillful blend of thoughtful lyrics, assorted instruments and electronic enhancements. Creating a hodgepodge of tones, genres and styles is never easy but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Whether he is scribbling lyrics, sequencing sampled loops or playing one of his ten instruments, one thing is certain; Matthew W. Thompson will make sure he never gets bored.
