Artist History Corey D. was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. One of many talents who sprang forth from that era and area, Corey having his uncle and mentor, musician Muhal Richard Abrams, a co-founder of A.A.C.M, (The Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians), helped him to develop his musical ability's at an early age... He had a front row seat to the coming to the forefront of some of America's greatest Musicians such as Ramsey Lewis, Henry Threadgell, Eddie Harris, Vaughn & Chico Freemon, Pete Cozy, Maurice & Verdine White of (Earth, Wind & Fire) and many others. During his 'growing up' years he met the musicians and writers who inspired him to develop the style which now is synonimous with his name. His first tour was at the age of 14 as a Background vocalist with Willie Dixon who was like a father to him. The group performend in front of major audiences, sharing the stage with blues legends such as the Staple Singers, Muddy Waters , Coco Taylor and many more... Corey D. has worked with many bands, singing and performing a variety of music from Motown, R&B, Soul, HipHop, Jazz, and country in Top 40 and Original venues from North America to Asia as a stand-alone, lead, or background vocalist for Top 40 artists such as Special Order , XLSoul , Slam Band And OSS Groove Central and original artists such as Bobby Taylor, Michael Bolton, Dee Daniels, Donny Stewert, and Mike Reno (Loverboy), etc... Not to mention the 'Smile Africa' project founded by Chris Ellom where Corey co-wrote parts and took part as a lead and background singer. His twenty-plus years of experience in the music industry as entertainer, singer, song writer and producer has resulted in performances in the U.S., Asia, and Europe where he has developed a considerable following. Currently he spends better than half his time honouring performance bookings in the Orient, notably Japan. He is now writing material for Soul, R&B, Hipphop and Pop artists around the globe and spending most of his off time in his portable studio that he takes with him when travelling. At one point his song 3Sharing Forever2(which is the title song of his new CD) reached the Korean top 10 charts with a Korean group named 3ShinWa2. What he likes doing best is Spending time with his family , performing and making music with great artists and poets for all to hear and see... .He believes that hard honest work provides it's own rewards; This is borne out in the list of his clients, some of whom are S.L.
