Artist description
The haunting sound of Cris Mitchell's debut CD, "Wind
Journeys" captures the transcendent spirit of the Native American flute.
Already an accomplished guitarist, Cris was captivated by the ethereal
sound of the Native American flute the first time he heard it. This was
almost a decade ago and since then Cris has developed a spiritual
connection with both the music and the instrument.
Not satisfied to simply play the flute, Cris developed an interest in
learning the craftsmanship of creating his own instruments, experimenting
with both traditional and more unconventional woods. His result is a
resonant instrument that blends beautifully in this collaboration with
the accompanying piano, guitar and keyboards.
Cris credits his musical
inspiration on this CD to the works of R. Carlos Nakai.
"Wind Journeys" will awaken both the mind and spirit to the peace and
harmony the Native American flute evokes.
