Artist description
Soulful- gritty original minded musicians. Music is especially suited for the uncompromising mp3. listener. Everytime vocalist Nolan Wiltz performs (east anglia region of England, Ireland, and Germany to date) he is compared to the late great "Love Man" (Otis Redding". There are also many times when his preacher style delivery/ timing conjures up visions of old southern style "prayer meetings". A stage presence and charisma like only folks like Al Green are known for . He originates from Belle Rose, Louisiana and it is very evident that he is the "genuine article", when it comes to gut wrenching emotive vocals.Regional, East Anglian musicians, apparently love to play behind him because he adds such an air of expectancy to the music. Even their own, as he is sometimes called upon to front numerous local blues bands." Nolan brings out the best in me" as quoted by local session musician Dave Bynoe. Toni Vines, is the other "spoke in the wheel" of VINOL. His downhome dobro technique and Delta/Texas guitar licks and phrases are in big demand on the local music scene as well as Europe. Over the years Toni has worked with an array of great musicians such as : Pick Withers (ex-Dire Straits), blues giant Louisiana Red, Paul Martinez (ex- Robert Plant),STAX legend Lowell Fulson, and Mick Avory (ex- Kinks). When not writing with Nolan on VINOls' songs Toni works solo with his collection of acoustic guitars. His style has been described as a cross between Ry Cooder and the great Alexis Korner himself. VINOL has a fresh, front porch snappy kind of sound. We wanted a " no place to hide" feel to come through on the debut CD.All songs were recorded live, no overdubs, and oh yeah- no drums. Bass, percussions and vocal phrasings were used to "deliver the message |

Artist History
Formed in 1998 by Nolan Wiltz, popular vocalist of top regional R&B/Soul- Funk Band South O' The Border and Toni " StrayDog" Vines founder of 80's internationally acclaimed blues outfit 'Mean Red Spiders'. Nolan and Toni were frequent "get together with a bottle of wine and jam the blues" buddies over a couple of years period. When they weren't playing the music of the likes of Lightnin' Hopkins and Mississippi Fred McDowell, they were listening to their recordings. ( as well of other blues artists). Between Nolan's lyrics and arrangements on some songs and Toni's progressions/lyrics on others... VINOL was born. A perfect coming together of Swamp Blues/ Soul from the bowels of Louisiana and hard grafting Rock- edged blues from the England/Welsh border region. VINOL has been receiving good feedback crediting them with putting "feeling" and "heart" in all of the songs on the CD. They thanks for all of the good, inspiring messages and tries to reply to all messages. |
