Artist description
Metric is the brainchild of Ken Glaser, a multi-instrumentalist whose all-you-can-stuff-in approach to recording has resulted in a diverse portfolio of tunes; some plainly commercial, some perfect for gracing a film soundtrack, all teeming with originality and loaded with punch. From the infectious melodies of Preamble (instrumental) to the biting sarcasm of Getting Off, from the ethereal harmonies of On Either Side to the stark madness of Psychobabble, and from the pure pop enthusiasm of I Dream In Stereo to the experimental "octophonic" textures of the instrumental title track, Paradigm Shift is a hypnotic gem of a debut. |

Artist History
After dabbling amongst the fringes of the L. A. music scene for 15 years, collaborating with a variety of bands, the New Jersey native secluded himself in his studio for the better part of the '90s. Like a spider weaving its web, Ken carefully crafted layer upon sonic layer during the Paradigm Shift sessions, frequently conspiring with potent lead guitarist Steve Thomas and ultra-drummer Ennio to complete the sound. The songs are a combination of group and individual compositions. |

Press Reviews
"Paradigm Shift is an intriguing package ... an eclectic alternative/new age blend." Bill Hartew, KLOS-FM, 4/99..."This ... submission from Metric is about as arty as they come in the pop rock genre. It opens with a melodic, Who-like tune, "I Dream In Stereo," which gives way to the soft, acoustic guitar-laced "The Heart." Music Connection Magazine, 7/19/99..."Glaser’s varied material seemingly bridges the gap between the progressive rock styles of the 1970s and infectious pop of the 1980s ... ever mindful of wit and insight." Orange County Register, 8/20/99. |
