Artist description
Leaning Owen plays the kind of music you'd hear at a pleasantly riotous shindig. Good music. Loud music. Fun music that gets thirsty people on their feet. You can listen to our songs right here and now. These are songs we wrote and recorded as a band, as a unit. No overdubs or fancy studio tricks, this is essentially our live sound captured for your enjoyment. |

Artist History
Hi, we're Leaning Owen, a band from Raleigh, North Carolina in the US of A. We play a style of music we call Alternapowerpoprock. What the Heck is Alternapowerpoprock? Did our dictionary explode spilling random syllables on the wall? Think of a diverse sampling of rock radio's best sounds, Foo Fighters, Green Day, David Bowie and Bush, all squeezed together under geological heat and pressure to form a sound unique to Leaning Owen. That's Alternapowerpoprock! We named the band after Doug's college roommate's dog. Yes, Owen's a dog. During one particularly boisterous college party, you know the kind, Owen found his way to the bottom of a tall and tasty fermented adult beverage. After that Owen leaned. Owen leaned for a long time. Owen leaned on a lot of things. Owen's still leaning to this day. |

Press Reviews
"I love your music... I am most anxious to hear more stuff from you guys," says Dan Aflague, host of The Rock Show on KPRG-FM 89.3 in Mangilao, Guam. "The Leaning Owen sound reminds me of a ‘Love’ era Cult and has some other Brit rock overtones as well. Very dramatic stance for a band that was named after an intoxicated dog!" writes Dave Rogers, raleighmusic.com. "Leaning Owen's so rich in musical influences, it's hard to know where to begin. Midnight Oil, ZZ Top, Husker Du, The Replacements, Alice In Chains, Hendrix... very powerful, full of anthematic songs. Doug's voice is calculated and emotional, raw and smooth. No nonsense rhythm tracks backdrop his no nonsense performance... The new music is stronger and more emotional yet, and well deserves a listen," opines Chuck Vella, Outer Seventh Records. "It was a pleasure to hear such a mature and pro sound from such a young and new band!" syas Eddie Lavrinovics, host of Rokade on Latvijas Radio in Riga, Latvia. "They are not metal, but that doesn't mean they suck. Leaning Owen certainly doesn't," confirms Paul Hanson (Metal Mongrel), Flow Online. "Got the copy of your CD and it's GREAT!!! I already added (it) to our rotation... I had no hesitation adding it immediately!" gushes RJ Sampson, Music Director, KSJB/KSJZ Radio, Pure Rock 93.3 in Jamestown, North Dakota. |
