Artist description
The darling of Blacksburg-area open-mics, actor, author, playwright, and host of Silhouette Style on WUVT 90.7 FM Blacksburg, Glen Williams blends genres and styles to create an intriguing brand of Psycho-Folk. He plays the guitar and he sings ? some say he does both very well. Sometimes serious, sometimes outrageously funny, he?s never dull. In stage shows he throws out a mixture of drama, comedy, music, and poetry. His albums are an eclectic mix of humor and music, old and new. Glen Williams: Still going?. |

Artist History
Glen Williams learned to play in the summer of 1997 through a chance convergence of three things: a nylon-string guitar, a book on how to play it, and about two weeks of completely free time. Within three weeks, he had written his first song. "Pickup Street" was performed before an audience at the University of Richmond?s Governor?s School for the Visual and Performing Arts. He hasn?t stopped writing or playing since.Shortly after his graduation from High School, Glen recorded his first EP. 1998?s The Money Keeps Rolling In was five tracks long and featured the song "One False Step," telegraphing his long descent into the depths of humorous folk. It also featured the folk ballad "Sovay," one of Glen?s personal favorites.By the summer of 1999, Glen was ready to record again, and the result was the full-length album, Post-Millennial Heebie-Jeebies. The thirteen-track CD (ten cuts with three bonus tracks) featured more of Glen Williams? growing sense of humor with tracks like "Wasted All This Time" and "True Romance Magazine." He also began performing on stages at open mic events and quickly became a crowd favorite. Now, as we near the end of the true millennium, Glen continues to write, play, and sing his heart out for Psycho-Folk and the folk who love it. |
