Artist description
Dorene was born in Illinois and later moved with her family to Kansas City. They nestled on 40 acres of green pastures and farmland. The horses were her main audience. She'd sing to them and dream of being on stage someday.Dorene's first real "captive" audience was her fourth grade classmates. The teacher would promise the children she'd let Dorene sing if they finished their assignments on time. Through her "fan club" at school she found encouragement that motivated her to pursue a musical career. At age thirteen, Dorene picked up a guitar and learned to play. It wasn't long before she was hooked and began creating songs. She won a local talent show and was being requested to perform around town. After High school Dorene took a job as a receptionist. But she was restless and unfulfilled. She quit her job and joined a band. They went on the road and Dorene began to make a name for herself playing in clubs and military bases across the Midwest. Later,She formed her own band and played in Country Clubs, Casinos, Hotels, and over 300 nightclubs as well as a repeated performer at the prestigious Kansas City Spirit Festival. She wrote many of the songs that were used in her performances. She received the honor of having one of her songs chosen for a Kansas City Songwriters Album.Though she enjoys a wide variety of artists and music, Patsy Cline was one of her primary inspirations. Dorene's formidable stage presence and remarkable voice has been impressing audiences for 15 years. With her first album,"Dorene", she brings the essence of grit and grace to Country Music.Dorene remains in Kansas City and resides with her husband and three sons. |
