    Artist History
Casey taught himself to play on mom's classical guitar with a string missing. At age fourteen, he took his homemade songs to Boston coffeehouses and taught himself to perform. Then he got a twelve-string guitar and learned that too. Now in New York, ten years later, Casey's a completely self-made performer and songwriter. "Bad Spell, Good Spell," the second full length CD, features Casey's one man band routine: he plays acoustic, electric, and slide guitar, bass, and drums, to back up the album's ten tracks, which are also expanded by the brillliant rhodes and organ playing from Darediablo's Matt Holford, and stunning backup vocals from Jenn Lindsay. The album is a topographical survivor's guide to the city, including landmarks, loud noises, and twists and turns like temp jobs, personal politics, scary dreams, and dumb luck. Casey’s songs are played on the airwaves, and also dozens of online music sites and showcases across the country. Heard live, they make noisy rooms quieter. Sometimes they make neighbors pound on the ceiling with a broomstick. But whatever they do, they're new, they're different, and they're worth a listen.

    Press Reviews
Holford plays heartfelt folk songs that sometimes delve into Dave Matthews territory, but that more often possess an edgy and innovative quality that suggests a collaboration between Paul Simon and Mr. Craig Wedren, of the late, great Shudder to Think. -Village Voice, November 02
