Artist description
Billingsgate is an independent, Edmonton band comprised of four musicians, each with their own unique styles and playing abilities. It would seem relatively impossible to categorize the sound they produce other than to say it has a progressive alternative backing, with a strong blues influence and an incredible dynamic focus. Music to Billingsgate is a way of life, an expression of belief in an otherwise expressionless world. Billingsgate has a very strong sound and are very choosy about where they play. The need to feel the music through their bodies make them a force to reckon with on stage. |

Artist History
Billingsgate was created about six years ago in Ian’s basement and despite many setbacks managed to become a strong unit. Their first show was for a church talent show that quite literally fell upon deaf ears. Since then, Billingsgate has played some of the biggest venues in Edmonton and now, with the release of their new album and their expansion into the Internet, things are finally beginning to go their way.

Press Reviews
BILLINGSGATE PROVES TO BE A SMART CHOICE AS OPENER
- "...Their sound, although well-matched with the poppiness of Semisonic, had a certain 'je ne sais quoi'. The art rock-ness of their music went well with the unique vocals of the lead singer. With the amount of technical ability they showed during their seemingly brief set, this band may have Semisonic open for it one day."
