    Artist description
White rap has never been pretty, but for whatever reasons, it has occasionally been popular. Perhaps not as well known, but certainly more infamous than Vanilla Ice were the early 90s sensation, and self-proclaimed "original suburbian gangstas", the 3 HONKEES.

    Artist History
A surprise success in 1992 with a hit video for "Who's a Honk?" and an urban and college radio favorite "Kill Da Bitch", the 3 HONKEES were a brief hot commodity, and were even hailed by some columnists of the time as voicing "the angst of modern white teenagers". A successful tour followed with the band opening for the venerable R&B act Toni Tony Tone. Then in 1994, hoping to make the leap into rap superstardom, the 3 HONKEES simultaneously released a slickly-produced follow-up album (Honk On) and a big-budget movie which chronicled their own rise to fame. Both were major critical and financial disasters, and nearly put their label (BINADOPTA Recordings) out of business. Only the most die-hard fans stuck by them, but the group disbanded while on tour in late 1994.

    Press Reviews
"It was at one point suggested that the 3 HONKEES somehow spoke for the thousands of alienated white teens of suburban America. After listening to thier new disc, featurning tracks such as "Putcha Finga in There!", "Whudduzit Reek Like?", and "Who Farted?", however, it has become abundantly clear that the 3 HONKEES speak for no one but their grossly perverted selves, and we should all thank God for that."
    Additional Info
Although their former recording label is now out of business, through what amounts to a legal loophole technicality, you can now know the joy and wonder of the 3 HONKEES music by purchasing the DAM CD: White Noize, a sort of 'best of' compilation, right here at mp3.com.
