Artist History Purple Microdot is an ongoing project founded by Jason Waroff and Chuck Boyd. The music is written by Chuck and Jason and then recorded and mixed down in their home studios. Purple Microdot's music is largely influenced by the guest musicians that get featured on certain songs. One of these musicians is Larry Waters, who is the vocalist from the band Squash the Fly. Larry has sung on 6 of our songs so far and his unique voice and style made a big imact on how these songs turned out. Another one of our guest musicians is Chris Waroff who plays keyboards on a bunch of our songs. Also featured on the song Get Off The Glue is Jack ( John Meyers ) on drums. This song was recorded when we were still called Channel Zero. Jack's amazing drum playing gave the song a real funky sound. We love working with different musicians as each one adds a unique element to our style. In the future, we hope to keep working with more different musicians. Another person who has been a big part of our sound is Rich Mayes. He is not a musician and not really a guest either. So what is he? A great source for samples. Our songs are loaded with samples of Rich doing everything from telling stories, to trying to sing and rap (drunk) to just making weird noises. Purple Microdot's sound is hard to describe or categorize. This is a result of our very diverse range of musical influences. These influences range from Funk, Metal, Soul, Jazz, Gangster Rap, and even a couple country guys. We usually say that we are Alternative only because almost anything can be considered to be Alternative. We are nothing like Pearl Jam though, who also get labeled as Alternative for some reason.
