Artist description
No Joke, originally The Loiterers, is neopunk with a poppy sort of sound. Fast, melodic music, driven by power chords and walking basslines. They have a unique sound, people sometimes compare them to groups like Bad Religion and Green Day, but they dont completely sound like either.

Artist History
No Joke dates back four years to when Dean and Chad would sit around on weekends and play guitar together. Dean is the best bass player around, hes known as the best in New York under 18. Chad plays guitar pretty well, but is shadowed by Deans musical talent. After playing together for over a year, they decided the next step was to get a drummer. Justin, a long time friend, was the first, and lasted the longest, for about a year or so. There were 4-5 songs back when they were called Koffee, Lavatory Ratz, Snap, or whatever weird name they could think up, until "The Loiterers" was settled on right before Justins departure. After that there was Mike, who didnt last more than a week, but then came Roland, the drummer who was right under their nose during the big drummer search. Roland lasted quite a while, he was the drummer as they began to get a name in the local scene. By the middle of Rolands term they had close to 10 songs, a landmark. But they needed something more....Roland was holding them back. So they let him go, and once again they were without a drummer. They realized their long time rival, Greg, would be the perfect drummer for them. He knew the songs, he liked the style, he was an awesome drummer, and thats where they stand today: Chad, Dean, and Greg. After many months of playing together, The Loiterers found out there was another band with the same name out in Long Island. After talking with the band, they discovered these Long Island Loits had the name copyrighted. So they changed it to No Joke. No Joke has played several venues all over Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT. No Joke broke up in the late 1999. |
