Artist History
Inspired by the pop sounds of Teenage Fanclub, Velvet Crush, Cheap Trick, Brian Wilson and Todd Rundgren, Barely Pink, who took their name from a lipstick color referenced in the kitschy 60's novel "Valley of the Dolls", serves up punchy rock ?n? roll that has attracted the attention of regional and national media, including BigDeal! Records who inked a contract with the band in early 1997 and released their full length debut album entitled Numberonefan. Through a series of successful tour dates, Barely Pink's reputation grew and they were given the green light to record their follow up album, Elli's Suitcase. Due to the subsequent demise of BigDeal!, the album never gained wide release, but is now available on DAM CD right here at MP3.com. The band is currently writing and recording new songs for their next release. |

Press Reviews
"Barely Pink is one of the punchiest, hookiest, grooviest combos that these pop-lovin' ears have heard in, oh, the last decade or so."- Goldmine "The band makes catchy pop-rock, rich in grabby hooks, woo woo harmonies and chiming guitars that capture a wide-eyed innocence of bygone days ... bright harmonies on top and gritty rock 'n' roll underneath ... the Bay's own pop colossus ... kinda like Big Star meets Urge Overkill by way of ELO with a little Ramones on top."- Weekly Planet"If my body has stopped moving to Barely Pink's tunes, I'd only have had to assume that I'd been struck by sudden paralysis."- Ink 19 "Barely Pink pays homage to Alex Chilton/Big Star and other pure pop icons by merging melodic, wide-open chord changes with soulful vocals and lead fills."- Focus Magazine |
