Artist History
Shawna was born September 22, 1977 in Pomona, CA.
At the early age of two was when she started
utilizing her gift from GOD. Later she began
singing in her church choir. Shawna was in the
sixth grade when she wrote her first rap song and
because of the rave responses it motivated her to
become a songwriter.
Shawna was inspired by various artists from ole'
school Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle to her
era including Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, and
lyrical motivation from Lauren Hill and
Erika Badu along with many others. Shawna's
parents were very supportive in all her endeavors.
However, she credits her grandmother for helping
her to become a better singer by giving her
voice lessons and teaching her music.
Growing up in LA county taught her the struggles
of life and how music can make a difference.
She is the proud mother of two beautiful children
and she has one sister and three brothers all
realizing the beauty of music. She has learned
that music replenishes the soul and it is what
keeps her striving forward.
Shawna's career is already on the rise. She has
been blessed enough to work with many talented
musicians such as Big Tony and Joee. She has also
had the pleasure of singing with several rappers
such as the Gospel Gangsters of Los Angeles, Tree
from Long Beach, Kilo, Tic, Kayo, and Slack all
out of Fort Worth, TX and she is currently
working with her cousing Buford Curry AKA Boski.
Shawna's goal is to become a renowned singer,
songwriter, performer, and producer with emphasis
on her songwriting. She is trying to motivate
others to never let up on their dreams. Her
motto is if you don't believe in yourself
then no one else will. |
