Artist History Taking punk music to a new level, SBCR of Chula Vista, California have banded together creating a sound beyond familiar riffs and beats. Guitarist Ben Zales founded the group of progressive musicians, formed in the spring of 2001. SBCR strived to make music that would surpass the stereotype that punk music had no musical depth. Combining easy-to-relate-to and inspirational lyrics with fun, catchy guitar licks and body slamming beats, band-mates Freddy Bejar (drums), Ken Ray (bass), Adam Andres (guitar), Ben Zales (guitar/vocals), and Steven Perez (vocalist) filter a sound not only with head-banging potential, but with a message as well. All co-writers, they like to keep their lyrics down to earth. "Our songs don't have any hidden meanings or anything. We go through the same things and feel the same feelings everybody else does, then we express those feelings through our music" says guitarist Adam Andres. With songs like Drowning in Mona and SNL (The Saturday Night Loser), as well as playing a beyond high-energy live show SBCR is easily finding local success. Within the first week of making their demo CD available to the public, SBCR had sold over 100 units. Having played a few live shows, the band has already started establishing a strong fan base, for their shows are intimate with the audience yet in-your-face edgy. A mixture that is sure to keep any audience out of their seats and in the pit!
