Artist description
An 'exciting story' probably isn't going to be the first thing you'll use to describe this rambling mess, but it's the truth. I'm Ben Longberg, not a very awe inspiring name I know, but I think my music more than makes up for it. It was a rainy day, back in 1992; or 1991, and maybe it was sunny… regardless, some time back then I wrote and rough recorded my first known original song. Oh, 5th grade must have been filled with such exiting things, but I was 'taken' with a girl (she is a supermodel now or has 5 kids... one or the other). Back to me, so I've been writing ever since then. I dabble on piano; but my main writing utensil, besides a computer, is a guitar. I write acoustic rock. Occasionally I'll spit out a distorted electric jam, but that's not my passion at all. So what do I sound like, well take Michelle Branch pop, add anything acoustic you've heard from Incubus or Staind. That's getting close… Throw in some Lifehouse lyrics, add Tori Amos passion, Dave Mathews chord inversions, and trained jazz additives. Now all that's left, is add some light Kurt Cobain scratch in a Glen Phillips voice. Ta-Da! It’s me! But really, I'm told I sound like Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20, Dave Mathews and some Goo Goo Dolls... So, I try to be original, just like everyone else. I'm working on my independent album, we'll see how it goes, I have tracks up here now.... so go listen and drop me a line to let me know what you think. Otherwise, I have a website (www.benlongberg.com), and it has contact information.
