Artist description Taking their cue from non-structured bands such as Can, Sonic Youth, Stooges, and Psychic TV, the sardonic quartet known as Sea of Fur strove to create stellar chaos from confusion. Droning guitars and synthesized sounds compete with heartbeat drum patterns to form a hypnotic cage of sound.

Artist History The mysterious project known as Sea of Fur arose in 1989 from the convergence of four strange individuals: Burgess (the former DJ at legendary club Subway); Greg Fasolino (guitarist of The Oppressed, Outcry, The Cave, The Naked and the Dead, Rawhead, Goatblood Sacrifice, Pump, Wrench, and The Sea Beasts, and mandolinist in The Deno Blues Gang); Joe Average (ex-bassist for The Cave/Concrete Witchdoctors); and Ed Rapacki (drummer for Concrete Witchdoctors/Rawhead/Pump/God). Convening for marathon sessions of Can/Sonic Youth/Stooges-style, art-damaged, tongue-rammed-in-cheek jamming, the results proved intriguing. Members of this assemblage (on different instruments) also recorded that same year under the names Lusting for the Cheetah (with guitarist/vocalist Don Tane) and They Eat Their Gods (with vocalist Jack Sheehy). In 2002 Fasolino reformed The Naked and the Dead, now defunct again; he is currently working on a a new band with former Naked and the Dead bassist Christopher Bollman.
