Artist History
The beginings of My Cousin Walter are shrouded deep in the mists of time. As a band, MCW has been together since June of 2001. The original band consisted of Mike, Dave, Drew, Mark, and Chris Oliver on drums. This never came to pass though, and in mid June, Anthony joined as lead guitar and Bryan joined as trumpet player. Chris could never make it to practice, so Dan joined on drums.
The first incarnate of My Cousin Walter was complete. MCW only learned to play 2 songs in about 2 months, some tensions arose and Anthony decided it would be in his best interest to leave, but not before saying MCW would go no where without him.
My Cousin Walter continued on without Anthony and actually did quite well. In mid August, Trevor joined as lead guitar, and My Cousin Walter's second incarnate was born. MCW did much better with Trevor, and all was cool. Then Anthony became a big baby and forced Dan to quit. Luckily we had Jeff and he joined as our drummer. Then N8 joined cause he is funny and uses big words that confuse Drew. The third incarnate of My Cousin Walter was born.
It was around this time that MCW got it's first show on November 24th, 2001. Since then they've played a number of shows at places such as AMC, CD Warehouse, Zythos Memphis Lounge, and the Apperition Food Court in Butler. In mid-January 2002 MCW went into the studio to record their debut EP.
In early Febuary 2002 Brian quit MCW. Long time fan Tony Longo steped up to fill his place in the now infamous MCW horn section.
My Cousin Walter is truly a force to be reconed with. They continue to make quality ska music to this day. They also like cheese. How bout that one?
